The original World Cup trophy arrived at Kotoka International Airport in Accra on Saturday, September 3 for a two-day tour.
Ghana’s Minister of Youth and Sports, Mustapha Ussif, Ghana Football Association president Kurt Okraku, and other officials were at the airport to receive the trophy.
David Trezeguet, who won the World Cup with France in 1998, is leading the trophy tour of Ghana and appeared ecstatic when he arrived on Saturday morning.
For the first time, the trophy is travelling to all 32 nations that have qualified for the tournament, with Ghana serving as the current stop.
The tour will conclude in Doha, Qatar, just days before the start of the World Cup on November 20, 2022.

Ghana will be in Qatar after defeating Nigeria on away goals in the final qualifying round. They have been placed in a difficult group with Portugal, South Korea, and Uruguay.
