“Paying GHc100 As Job Application Is Extortion At Its Peak” - Nana Frimpomaa Slams Security Services

The Chair and Leader of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), Nana Akosua Frimpomaa has descended heavily on the government for what she calls a skillful manner of extorting money from poor youth who desire to be conscripted into the various security services in the country.

According to Nana Frimpomaa, the act is shameful and needs to be stopped.

Addressing Journalists on Wednesday in Accra, Nana Frimpomaa said "I am expected to pay GHc100 to apply for a job as a young person and youth of this country. GHc100. This is extortion at its peak"

She also appealed to President Akufo-Addo to immediately look into the issue.

“The private sector has collapsed and everybody is running to the government for a job, you are asking them to pay GHc100 just to find a job and that is if they are lucky. And we do not know why there is corruption in this country and when people get the job, there is no love for the profession or patriotism or nothing towards the nation “

She however questioned what the focus of the State Security Services is adding that a nation cannot be built for the growing youth on the premises of corruption.

“If you charge these young people and they go to queue of which they are not even sure they are going to get, once they get there, they will not have any connection to the job they are doing. They will be thinking of how to get money. Everything has been monetized including the State.”

She on behalf of the youths of the country, charged the various State Security Services to refund the monies to the poor youths.

She pointed out similar incidents happening at some Embassies where people are asked to pay monies for application forms for Visa before they are interviewed and when they are refused, they don't get their monies back and we have the same thing in our security services

She challenged the media to probe further into the 2021 recruitment exercise.

The Chair of the CPP added that until such behaviors are curbed, the country will not be able to fight corruption.

She questioned the government on the 70% GDP paid to the public sector.

"The Prisons Service is already being paid, they don't need money for application and interview"

“I am giving the Institutions until the 21st September to refund the monies to the poor youths, they will see the anger of the youth and those of us who are committed to following the dreams and aspirations of Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah to ensure that this country becomes par and build this country for the people. We did not build this place to extort from them. This I am saying is extorting and the monies must be refunded to them ASAP, especially those who will not get the application”

She appealed to President Akufo-Addo to support the youths with loans so they start up businesses on their own.

The Chair and Leader of the CPP hinted that if proper measures are not put in place, the country will collapse.
