The Parliament of Ghana says it is distraught by the news of the demise of Inspector Kaakyire Abednego, the official dispatcher rider for the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Alban Bagbin.
According to a statement signed by the Director of Public Affairs, Kate Addo, it said "Parliament is distraught by the news of his demise. While mourning the loss of our dispatch rider, Parliament sends its deepest condolences to the family"
The statement also confirmed that indeed the advanced team of the Speaker of Parliament had been involved in an accident.
"The Office of Parliament regrets to inform the general public that an advance team of the Rt. Hon. Speaker was involved in an accident when the advance team was on its way to Wa in the Upper West Region" it revealed.
Madam Kate Addo further mentioned that the dispatch rider was hit by a speeding vehicle from behind resulting in the untimely death.
The statement also noted that the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin is saddened by the unfortunate incident.
