Pakistan has signed a defense contract worth more than $1.5 billion with Sudan, marking one of the largest military agreements between the two nations in recent years.

The deal was finalized during a high-level Sudanese military delegation’s visit to Pakistan, led by Lieutenant General Pilot Al-Tahir Mohamed Al-Awad Al-Amin, Commander of the Sudanese Air Force.

The delegation, which included the head of Sudan’s Air Defense and officials from the Sudanese Military Industry Corporation, held talks with Pakistan’s Minister of Defence, the Chief of Air Staff, and other senior officials.

According to ProPakistani, the agreement covers:

10 K-8 Karakorum trainer/light attack aircraft

20 Shahpar-2 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs)

150 YIHA-III UAVs

50 MR-10K UAVs

50 Ababeel-5 UAVs

Engines for MiG-21 fighter jets

150 ASV Mohafiz armored vehicles

HQ-9 and HQ-6 air defense systems

Given the scale of the purchase, media reports suggest the deal may be financed by a third-party country.

Analysts say the agreement underscores the Sudanese military’s continued focus on a battlefield resolution to its ongoing conflict, rather than entering peace negotiations.

The move also comes amid deepening defense ties between Pakistan and Turkey, a key backer of the Sudanese military, signaling a possible alignment of strategic interests among the three countries.
