Benjamin Gyewu-Appiah, a member of the NPP National Communications Team, has praised the recent launch of the party's manifesto in Takoradi, where Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, now the party's Flagbearer, delivered an inspiring and honest speech.
Speaking on Think Tv's political talk show, SE NO PEI, Mr. Gyewu-Appiah emphasized that Dr. Bawumia is the only Vice President in Ghana's history who has not been embroiled in any scandal, setting him apart as a leader of integrity.
"The NPP is undoubtedly the most attractive political party in Ghana today," Gyewu-Appiah declared.
"Our manifesto does not shy away from the realities—yes, there are hardships, but our Flagbearer, Dr. Bawumia, was truthful and bold in admitting this. He stands as a beacon of hope, ready to lead Ghana into a brighter future."
Reflecting on the NPP's achievements from 2017 to 2019, Mr. Gyewu-Appiah noted the significant progress made under the current government.
"During these years, market women themselves admitted that salaries were booming, and there was stable electricity across the country. The COVID-19 pandemic hit us hard, but even during those challenging times, the NPP government ensured stable electricity—a stark contrast to the frequent power outages that plagued the NDC era."
Mr. Gyewu-Appiah highlighted the government's ongoing efforts to recover from the economic impact of the pandemic, pointing out that Ghana’s economic situation had reached unprecedented levels.
"Ghana experienced a historic economic downturn, going as far as 54.7 in its history, but we are on the path to recovery"
"We have assured Ghanaians that we will make life comfortable, and even in difficult moments, the NPP has delivered stability."
He further outlined the NPP's achievements in infrastructure, including the construction of hospitals and roads.
"When the NDC left office, they left behind only 57 ambulances. Today, thanks to the NPP, we have over 300 ambulances serving the nation. Additionally, we have equipped our police force with 48,000 bikes, enhancing their mobility and effectiveness."
Mr. Gyewu-Appiah also addressed the trust Ghanaians have in the NPP, despite the current challenges.
"The Ghanaian people believe that although things are difficult, this government is working hard and will continue to improve their lives. Dr. Bawumia has assured us of better days ahead, and we trust his leadership."
On the issue of corruption, Gyewu-Appiah defended Dr. Bawumia, asserting that there is no evidence of any wrongdoing on his part.
"Dr. Bawumia is not corrupt, and there is nothing to suggest otherwise. As President, he would never engage in bribery. This is in stark contrast to Mahama, who accepted a Ford Expedition as a bribe and later tried to dodge accountability in a BBC interview."
Mr. Gyewu-Appiah further criticized former President John Mahama’s leadership, labeling him as a weak leader.
"Mahama not only took bribes but also shielded corrupt officials. One MP, who squandered Ghana's money during a football tournament in Brazil, was protected by Mahama, who reassigned him to the Flagstaff House instead of holding him accountable."
In conclusion, Gyewu-Appiah reiterated the NPP’s commitment to transparency, development, and the well-being of all Ghanaians.
"Under the leadership of Dr. Bawumia, the NPP is committed to continuing the progress we have made and ensuring a better future for every Ghanaian."
