The Electoral Commission (EC) has responded to a petition from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) following their demonstration on Tuesday, 17th September 2024.
In a statement issued by the Commission, they assured the NDC and the general public that the concerns raised will be reviewed and addressed in due time.
The EC emphasized its ongoing efforts to produce a credible voters' register, stressing that the process is still in its early stages.
They reiterated that the voters' register is the foundation of free, fair, and transparent elections, reaffirming their commitment to delivering a robust final register ahead of the December 2024 elections.
In a significant gesture, the Commission stated, "Our doors remain open," signaling their willingness to engage with the NDC on the issues raised.
The EC urged all stakeholders to trust in their commitment to ensuring credible elections, adding that a formal response to the petition will be provided soon.
The demonstration and petition are part of the NDC’s efforts to raise concerns about the electoral process as the country prepares for the upcoming general elections.
