One injured as armed men storm live show at Metro TV

The premises of Metro TV near Alisa Hotel, North Ridge in Accra, became the scene of chaos on Wednesday morning, November 27, 2024, when armed policemen and civilians disrupted a live production.

The incident occurred during the station's flagship morning show, Good Morning Ghana, hosted by Randy Abbey.

According to Mr. Abbey, the intruders forcibly attempted to enter the studio, injuring a security guard who tried to prevent them.

“We do not know what it is for, but they were trying to forcibly enter the studio,” Mr. Abbey reported during the live broadcast.

The disruption caused an abrupt break in the program, which featured panelists Kwesi Pratt Jnr., Managing Editor of The Insight newspaper, and Dr. Richard Asante Yeboah, Executive Secretary of the Public Servants Housing Loan Scheme.

“They are still trying to enter the studio,” Pratt remarked as the commotion unfolded, with Abbey adding that the station’s private security personnel were doing their best to contain the situation.

Police officers arrived at the scene to restore order and secure the premises.

The management of Metro TV has announced plans to hold an emergency meeting to investigate the incident and determine the next steps. The motive behind the attack remains unclear at this time.

Meanwhile, the injured security guard is reportedly receiving medical attention.
