The Ghana Police Service says it has arrested Forty-Nine (49) persons in connection with what it calls unlawful assembly and violation of Public Order Act.
According to the Police, the 49 suspects are currently in custody and assisting in investigation.
In a communique signed by Head, Public Affairs, Ghana Police Service, Supt. Juliana Obeng, it said "The 49 suspects, who were currently in custody assisting in the investigation, were arrested within the vicinity of the Jubilee House and the 37 Military Hospital area"
The communique also noted that the arrest was a result of the flagrant disregard of the court process served on the organisers of the Democracy Hub group, which sought to prohibit them from embarking on a planned demonstration.
