St. Thomas Aquinas Senior High School (SHS) has emerged winners in the first preliminary stage in the on-going National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) competition which was held on Tuesday in Accra.

The competition saw St. Thomas Aquinas SHS battling with St. Mary's SHS and GHANATA SHS for the ultimate spot.

With what is being described as a fierce contest, the representatives from the St. Thomas Aquinas were given a run for their money as St. Mary's SHS and GHANATA SHS came in hard in round 2 and 3.

The victory for St. Thomas Aquinas has helped the school to advance to one-eighth stage of the on-going competition. ThinkNews Online has however gathered that although St. Mary's lost, there is a bit of optimism as they await the results from other contests.

St. Mary's SHS is hoping to be among the list of highest scoring runner up schools in the preliminary stage.

After the fourth round, St. Thomas Aquinas scored 65pts with Ghanata securing 25points and St. Mary’s SHS walking away with 30.
