The Member of Parliament for Ablekuma West Constituency, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful has descended heavily on the General Secretary of the NDC, Johnson Asiedu-Nketia saying no amount of threats and insults heaped on the Electoral Commission will change the outcome of the December 7 polls.
According to her, she is not surprised at the behavior of the NDC adding the opposition party has never seen anything good in the activities of the country's electoral commission.
In an exclusive interview with ThinkNewsOnline, the MP said "Asiedu Nketia, no amount of shouting, innuendos, insults, and threats that you heap on the Electoral Commission will change the outcome of the 2020 December Elections because nobody is afraid of the NDC and they cannot hold the entire country to ransom. The majority of the people of this country will express their will freely on election day"
She added that the opposition NDC should brace themselves for an even greater loss in the upcoming elections than what they suffered in 2016.
"Let me just tell them, they should brace themselves for an even greater loss than they suffered in 2016. The signs are all over the walls and I have been around the country and I know that is what is coming upon them and maybe, they have seen it themselves that is why they are screaming wolf. It is not going to help them" she noted.
The Ablekuma West MP who doubles as the Minister of Communication took a swipe at Mr. Asiedu Nketia over his comments made at the filing of Presidential Nominations on behalf of the NDC's flagbearer, John Mahama at the EC head office on Wednesday,
Madam Owusu-Ekufu also mentioned that one will wonder what the previous EC did for them since the opposition party has tagged the current EC as corrupt and incompetent.
She said "I would have thought that by now, they would have settled down and accepted that this is the Electoral Commission which is bent on doing its work in accordance with our law. It admits its challenges, we have had the most successful registration exercise despite the COVID. They ranted, raved and screamed against this registration exercise before it was down and I have not heard them commending the Electoral Commission for pulling it off"
Madam Owusu-Ekufu hinted that she is confident the NDC will be ashamed after the December polls.
"They have also been around the country and have tested the pulse of the people. They know that the majority of the people are bent on retaining Nana Akufo-Addo and the NPP in power and so all these are creating the conditions for them to reject the results of the elections which they know they will lose and so I am not surprised" she fumed.
The Member of Parliament on Thursday received massive support and enthusiasm from some scores of constituents in the constituency when she went to file her nomination forms to the electoral commission’s office at Dansoman in the Ablekuma West constituency.
Seeking re-election for the second term, the MP says she is confident, she will win the seat hands down.
"My constituents have seen my track record for the last four years in parliament and have decided to give me another chance. I have done a lot in my constituency. The roads infrastructure, classroom blocks, health care delivery, potable water and security among others are a few of what I have done for my people"
