President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering commitment to national security, assuring Nigerians that the country is making significant strides in the fight against terrorism, banditry, and other violent crimes.

Speaking during a national broadcast on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, to mark Nigeria’s 65th Independence anniversary, the President paid glowing tribute to the nation’s armed forces and security agencies for their tireless efforts and sacrifices in restoring peace to troubled regions.

“We are working diligently to enhance national security, ensuring our economy experiences improved growth and performance,” Tinubu stated, noting that officers and men of Nigeria’s security forces are “winning the war” against insurgents and criminal elements across the country.

He highlighted recent security gains in the North-East, North-West, and South-East, attributing the return of peace in many communities to the bravery of the military and other security personnel.

“We see their victories in their blood and sweat to stamp out Boko Haram terror, IPOB/ESN insurgency, and rampant banditry,” the President said.

President Tinubu urged citizens to continue supporting the nation’s security forces and expressed confidence that the efforts currently underway will lead to a more secure and united Nigeria.
