NDC 2020 MANIFESTO LAUNCH “Our Economy Is In Tatters And Intensive Care” – John Mahama

The Flagbearer for the largest opposition party, National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama has stressed that the country’s current economy under the Akufo-Addo administration is in tatters and intensive care unit.

Speaking at the launch of the NDC’s manifesto dubbed ‘People’s Manifesto; Jobs, Prosperity and More’, Mr. Mahama said “Never in the history of the world has the quality of accountable leadership been more critical to its survival than now. Leadership that has been proactive and visionary have emerged from the shocks with less effect on their people and the economy. Unfortunately, I cannot say the same for our beloved country Ghana, our economy is in tatters and an intensive care”

He added Ghana is on track to pose the highest ever physical deficit in its history since the beginning of the fourth republic.

The Flagbearer further stressed that excessive borrowing over the last four years has placed Ghana in a high debt risk category.

“We have absolutely nothing to show for it. Job losses are at an all-time high with lay-offs and business collapses becoming the order of the day. The capital and life time savings of small businesses and households have been eroded by the not to well thought through financial sector clean-up. Business confidence is at an all-time low”

He also disclosed that he is disappointed in the Akufo-Addo government saying Ghanaians are tired and hungry while a elite few have all the access to all the opportunities to the little the nation has to offer.
