LOCAL NEWS: 3 Persons Die In Gory Accident On Kumasi-Accra Highway (Pictures)

Information reaching ThinkNews Online indicates three person have lost their lives in a gory accident which occurred at Amanase near Suhum on the Kumasi to Accra highway.


According to eye-witnesses, the three who lost their lives were on board a VVIP Bus with registration number, GT 6417-10.


ThinkNews Online has gathered that the bus was carrying about 43 passengers.


It is however emerging that most of the passengers have sustained various degrees of injuries with some in critical condition hence rushed to Suhum Government Hospital for emergency healthcare.


An eye-witness said “The accident occurred around 5:30am between Amanase and Okorase near Suhum. They were about 43 passengers in the bus from Kumasi to Accra but the steering wheel got locked. The driver applied his breaks but the bus veered off the road and crashed"

Sources say the District Director of NADMO at Ayensuano, Joseph Okai Gyan on hearing the accident, rushed to the scene to help rescue the victims however three persons including a four year old child died instantly.

Information made available indicates that over 2000 people are killed yearly through road accidents in Ghana.


Provisional statistics on road traffic crashes from January to May 2020 indicated that a total of 5,465 crashes were reported, involving 9,163 vehicles, with 958 incidents of pedestrian knockdowns, 909 deaths, and 5,703 injuries. See pictures below:
