Ghana's Former first lady, Nana konadu Agyemang-Rawlings turned 72 On November 17,2020
exactly a week after losing her lifelong partner and Ghana's longest serving Head of state, Jerry John Rawlings. arguably the most driven first lady the country has had so far, she is by all accounts a strong willed woman. Spotlight takes you on a journey through the life of this assertive lady.
Ghana's Former first lady, Nana konadu Agyyemang-Rawlings loved dancing and wearing mini skirts in her youthful days. She was 'a regular' at some of Accra's most popular entertainment spots like 'Saint Netouche', 'Club Lambaba', 'Metropole', 'Lido' and 'Keteke' etc., dancing her 'head off' from evening till daybreak'!
She really liked nite clubs Unlike her 'better-half', Jerry Rawlings John, later Jerry John Rawlings. Hear her; "I used to like nite clubs but not him (Rawlins)...I would dance from beginning to end but he (Jerry Rawling) didnt like nite clubs so he preferred to sit in a place and talk and have a cup of tea or something. But he would do that for me- take me to the night club".

Nana Konadu got married to jerry John Rawlings in 1977 and in 1978 gave birth to her first child Ezanetor Rwlings. She later had two more daughters and a son; Yaa Asantewaa, Amina and kimathi. Nana konadu is an assertive woman and has by all standards demonstrated that she is an astute politician.
According to Nana konadu her desire "Is to see the emancipation of women at every level of development to enable them to contribute and benefit from the socio-economic and political progress of the country. Their participation will help to achieve the aims of the United nations Declaration for women, EQUALITY, development and peace.Women's vital role of promoting peace in the family, the country and the world at large must be acknowledged. And to do this, they must be empowered politically to equip them adequately for the challenges of critically identifying and assessing situations for the betterment of society".
