The Minister for Gender, Children, and Social Protection, Hon. Naa Momo Lartey, has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting vulnerable households under the Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty (LEAP) Programme, noting that the latest increment in grant payments has been well received by beneficiaries.
Speaking during the 96th LEAP disbursement exercise, the Minister emphasized that the increments were introduced after extensive public engagements, allowing both officials and social workers to interact directly with beneficiaries and address their concerns.

“We didn’t just come here to tell stories; we listened to the people, and we’ve delivered on our promises. You can clearly see the joy and smiles on their faces,” Hon. Lartey stated.
According to her, the government is working to ensure that the LEAP grant keeps pace with economic realities, particularly inflation.

"Together with the Ministry of Finance, we have introduced indexation, which means as inflation rises, the grant amounts will also be reviewed accordingly," she explained.
The Minister further clarified that LEAP beneficiaries do not all receive the same amount, as payments are based on the number of eligible members per household.

The current breakdown of payments is as follows:
One eligible household member — GH¢256.00
Two eligible household members — GH¢304.00
Three eligible household members — GH¢352.00
Four or more eligible household members — GH¢424.00
“These amounts are subject to periodic review to ensure they reflect prevailing economic conditions,” she added.

In this latest payment cycle, 269 individuals from 89 households benefited from the initiative.
Hon. Lartey expressed satisfaction with the progress made so far, adding that the ministry remains committed to expanding coverage and ensuring that the most vulnerable citizens receive the support they deserve.

“We are not going backwards. This is about improving lives, and we will continue to build on this foundation,” she concluded.
