Renowned broadcaster and fashion icon, Kofi Okyere Darko, popularly known as KOD, has voiced his disappointment with the current administration led by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
In a candid interview on an Accra-based television station, KOD revealed his high expectations for the Akufo-Addo administration, hoping it would surpass the achievements of Ghana's first President, Kwame Nkrumah, known for his visionary leadership and significant contributions to the nation’s socio-economic development.
KOD expressed that the current state of the nation falls short of the progress he had anticipated.
Reflecting on his support for President Akufo-Addo in the 2008 elections, KOD shared, "I had an opportunity to listen to him speak to some of us as creatives and what he had planned for the creative sector of this country, the orange economy. I thought he wouldn’t do bad at all… Yes, I supported him."
He further added, "In my opinion, and with strong conviction, I thought if there was anyone who was supposed to take this country to the next level beyond Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, it was probably going to be Nana Akufo-Addo."
KOD’s remarks highlight a growing sentiment of disillusionment among some Ghanaians who had high hopes for the current administration's potential to drive significant national progress.
His statements also underscore the importance of the creative sector in Ghana's development and the unmet expectations within this community.
