The High Court has instructed the Electoral Commission (EC) to re-collate and declare the results of the Ablekuma North and Nsawam-Adoagyiri constituencies, following a contentious legal battle over alleged anomalies in the electoral process.
The directive, issued by Presiding Judge Joseph Adu Owusu Agyeman on Friday, December 20, comes after aggrieved parliamentary candidates from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) sought legal intervention.
The plaintiffs requested fresh elections, citing irregularities in the collation and declaration of results.
Despite objections from Godwin Edudzi Tamaklo, representing the NDC, and Gary Nimako, lead counsel for NPP's Frank Annoh-Dompreh, the court ruled in favor of re-collation.
Both lawyers had argued that the results had already been declared and should remain valid, but the court highlighted the need for transparency and fairness in the process.
The EC has been ordered to expedite the re-collation process to resolve the dispute and ensure electoral integrity in these constituencies.
