JUST IN: Andy Kumi's Late Strike Saves Kotoko From A Defeat To King Faisal At Len Clay Stadium


Asante Kotoko has survived a narrow defeat after Andy Kumi scored just on the stroke of full time to earn them a point after been held to a 1-1 stalemate by King Faisal at the Len Clay Stadium.


Coach Mariano Barreto made a few changes from the team that started last week bringing Imoro Ibrahim and Augustine Okrah, who has been absent for a while now.


With King Faisal, coach Nurudeen Amadu didn't make any major changes in the team that won against Legon Cities last Monday with goalkeeper Danlad Ibrahim starting against his mother club.

The Porcupine Warriors with the first attempt at goal after Emmanuel Gyamfi's cross was not properly cleared but Keyekeh's low drive couldn't trouble goalkeeper Danlad Ibrahim.


Kotoko with another opportunity after Danlad failed to grab an aerial ball that landed on Augustine Okrah but fired wide resulting in a goal-kick.


King Faisal registered the first goal on their first dangerous attempt after Zubairu Ibrahim tapped into the net from a close range to make it 1-0.

The 'Insha Allah' lads kept on hunting for the second but a timed slide tackle from Andrews Apawu saved the situation.


The host with an early substitution after coach Mariano Baretto replaced Augustine Okrah with Godfred Asiamah on the 35th minute.


The 'Kum Apem' lads came really strong after recess when Evans Adomako was left all alone in a one-on-one situation but failed to nip on that one to get his side back on level.

The home team doing all they could to get the equalizer after Samuel Frimpong's cross landed nicely on Godfred Asiamah but his effort was denied by Richard Akrofi.


King Faisal nearly snatched the double on the day after skipper Kwame Peprah rounded Kwame Baah but his effort went off the crossbar. Just unlucky!


With six minutes to full time, the Porcupine Warriors got back on level after Andy Kumi Francis connected with a header from a close range to make it 1-1.
