Jean Mensa declares John Mahama President-Elect

Jean Mensa, the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC), has officially declared John Dramani Mahama, Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), as the President-Elect of Ghana.


The much-anticipated announcement was made on Monday at the EC headquarters in Accra following the conclusion of the 2024 general elections.


JeanMensa, revealed that the NDC won with a total vote of 6,328,397 representing 56.55%


The EC Chairperson added that the resulted declared excluded 9 constituencies.


She stressed that even if the votes garnered at the 9 constituencies are added to that of the second person, it will not affect the results declared.


The declaration was met with jubilation from NDC supporters who gathered outside the EC premises, celebrating their leader’s victory.


Mahama’s triumph marks his return to the presidency after serving as President from 2012 to 2016.


International and local observers have commended the electoral process for its transparency and peaceful conduct.


The nation now awaits January 7, 2025 for the official swearing of John Dramani Mahama into office.
