"Jailing Akuapem Poloo Is Poor Judgement" – Lil Win Fires Judiciary

Kumawood actor and entrepreneur, Kwadwo Nkansah, popularly known as Lil Win, has described as “poor judgment” the decision by the Accra Circuit Court to jail Ghanaian actress, Akuapem Poloo.

Akuapem Poloo was sentenced to 90 days imprisonment on Friday, April 16, 2021, by the Court for publishing a nude photo of herself and her six-year-old son. She was also sentenced for domestic violence. The actress had published the picture on social media in June 2020 and was sued subsequently by a non-governmental organization, Child Rights International.

Initially, she pleaded not guilty before the Court. However, along the line, she reversed her plead, pleading guilty to charges leveled against her.

Her jailing has generated a public uproar, especially among celebrities.

And the renowned actor, Lil Win, believed the judgment by the court is harsh.

He wrote to his 2.5 million Instagram followers on Sunday morning, April 18, 2021, that the image shared by Akuapem Poloo “is one of creative license and is not a criminal matter.”

According to him, “we the creative industry of Ghana are appalled at the judicial system’s decision to jail Miss Rosemond Brown.”

He added that “we are calling on the President of the 4th Republic Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to pardon this young single mother who can be blamed for perhaps poor judgment but in no shape or form deserves incarceration.”
