The National Women's Organiser of the opposition, National Democratic Congress (NDC, Dr. Hanna Louisa Bissiw has taken a swipe at President Akufo-Addo saying if he cannot take care of his home, then he is not fit to be a President.
According to her, President Akufo-Addo should be taking care of his wife likewise the Vice President, and not depend on the country's funds to pay their spouses.
Speaking to Journalists in Accra on Tuesday, she said "President Akufo-Addo, with all the monies that you have. You and your Vice President. If we don't go anywhere, we can really look at PDS, take some of the money and take care of your wives; take care of your homes. It's your responsibility as a man; if you can't take care of your home then you are not fit to be a President"
"With the greatest respect, he should set a good example for the young men. They should take care of their wives and the Vice President should also take care of his wife, that is your responsibility as a husband.
She further described the payment of monies to their spouses of the President and Veep as illegal.
Background
It will be recalled that First and Second Lady have come under heavy criticisms by some section of the public over the payments of salaries.
The Minister for Information, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah revealed that Parliament had approved of payment of some amount of monies to the spouses of the President and Veep.
He revealed that the First and Second Ladies were going to be paid from 2017 to date.
It, however, emerged that the First and Send have both in consultation with their husbands have rejected the offers.
