The Attorney-General and Minister for Justice, Dr. Dominic Ayine, has expressed frustration over what he describes as deliberate distractions from his core responsibilities, following social media allegations made by Kwame Asare Obeng, popularly known as A-Plus.

Speaking at a press conference in Accra, Dr. Ayine said he would not allow himself to be dragged into courtroom battles or public spectacles that take attention away from his duties.

“I want to spend my time profitably doing the work the President has appointed me to do,” he said.

"I don’t want to be tied to going to court every day with you media people on my back. I want to sit in that office and deliver on my mandate.”

Dr. Ayine criticized sections of the media and the public for failing to hold A-Plus accountable for his claims.

“When A-Plus went on Facebook and made those allegations, how many of you asked him to provide evidence of Dr. Ayine’s corruption?” he questioned. “That’s why false claims keep circulating unchecked.”

He lamented the lack of critical interrogation of such public accusations, which he believes contributes to the vilification of honest public servants.

"If you think deeper and ask critical questions, people like him will stop trying to stain the image of those working hard in public office,” he noted.

Reiterating his commitment to integrity and transparency, Dr. Ayine stated, “I have sufficient reserves of integrity, and you can trust me to continue serving in public office with honesty.”

The Attorney-General emphasized that while he will not pursue legal action against A-Plus for now, he remains focused on upholding the rule of law and delivering justice for Ghanaians.
