Dr. Hassan Ayariga, Founder and 2024 Presidential Candidate of the All People’s Congress (APC), has thrown down the gauntlet, challenging the two leading presidential contenders from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to a live televised debate.
Mr. Ayariga called on former President John Dramani Mahama and sitting Vice President Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia to defend their visions and policies, asserting that both have failed to alleviate Ghana's economic distress.
Speaking before a crowd of supporters at the unveiling of his running mate, Rev. Dr. Samuel Walanyo Mensah, Ayariga didn't mince words in his criticism of the two major political parties that have governed Ghana for the last 32 years.
He condemned the NDC and NPP for what he described as their "mishandling" and "mismanagement" of the country's economy, leaving Ghanaians in dire straits.
"I am ready to debate Mahama, Bawumia, and any other presidential aspirant, because these people have failed the good people of Ghana," Ayariga stated forcefully.
His call for a debate was not limited to himself, as he also declared his running mate equally prepared to take on the vice-presidential candidates, particularly on issues related to the economy.
Mr. Ayariga further touted the APC as the only party equipped with the right policies to pull Ghana out of its economic turmoil, urging Ghanaians to rally behind his party for a much-needed political change.
"The APC is ready to turn around the fortunes of this country, and it is time for Ghanaians to back a new, competent leadership," he emphasized.
This daring challenge raises the stakes as the political race heats up ahead of the 2024 elections, positioning Ayariga as a fierce contender aiming to disrupt the traditional NDC-NPP dominance.
