"Gov't will not burden Ghanaians with taxes" - Dr. Amin Adam

Finance Minister, Dr Mohammed Amin Adam has assured Ghanaians that the Akufo-government will not burden the citizenry with taxes.

According to him, government will rather use appropriate means to collect revenue from those who have not been paying their taxes in the country.

The Finance Minister said this during a press conference on Saturday 13, April ater Ghana reached a staff -level agreement with the IMF on the country’s extended credit facility arrangement.

He said “Now we’re determined to go out and collect the taxes from those who have not been paying and those who have been evading taxes to generate the desired revenue to fill the gap created as a result of the suspension of the taxes"

He added that the government was pursuing reforms with the tax administration to ensure proper assessments were done.

He stressed that the government felt the pain Ghanaians endured as a result of the implementation of reforms under the ongoing IMF loan support programme.
