Ghanaian Kickboxers making huge strive for Ghana on African Continent (PICS)

Ghana's Sporting Department keeps expanding as its Kickboxing Federation keeps making huge strive on the African Continent.


Some Ghanaian Kickboxers are raising the flag of the nation higher with their great fighting skills and abilities.


There are some Ghanaian kickboxers that are rising to the top with great achievements and glories; which includes John Akurigo, Selom Darku amongst others.


These undisputed Ghanaian kickboxers are making waves on the Africa soil with their skills and power and are making Ghana proud with their talent.


Kickboxing is changing the face of sport in Ghana and beyond as it offers numerous golden opportunities to people with high interest in making good name for themselves and their country.


The sport in many ways has taken children from the street, from becoming drug addicts and dangerous to the society of which Ghana is off no exception.

In recent past, Kickboxing has seen massive growth with several championship and seminars held for it Federation with the vision of developing the sport.


In Ghana, it is known as the International Kickboxing Federation-PKB with its headquarters situated in the Capital, Accra.


Ahmed Ibrahim is the President of International Kickboxing Federation- Ghana.


Under his stewardship the federation has chalked several successful stories including the appointments of some Executive members to high positions at the mother federation.


Fighters have also seen growth in their development with several opportunities at their doorstep for championship in Europe.


Some of the fighters are making great names as their personal glory and achievements keeps increasing.

Achievements storyline, starts with John Akurigo

The 38-year old fighter who begun a path for kickboxing made his debut in October, 29 2004, where he fought at the middle division is amongst the list of kickboxers who can not be overlooked with his hard work and determination.


Akurigo, in 23 bouts recorded 17 Knockouts with 6 loses, having fought both in Ghana and outside the shores of the west Africa country.


He had a per cent of 69.57 Knockouts in all his bouts.


He became a household name in Kickboxing after winning a major championship title in 2017 at the Accra Sports and couple of other silverware.


In 2013, he fought Steven Bendall where he defeated him in Cologne Germany.


He is a boxer and does kickboxing as well.


The young fighter first made appearance in the ring in September 17, 2011 in a global championship held in Togo and has since moved away from an amateur to a professional kickboxer and won glory for Ghana.

Darku, engaged in the 2012 Championship in Nigeria before appearing in the 2016 tournament in Ivory Coast, four years later. In March, 30 2019 he made the squad for the Nigeria championship where he did not disappoint but won a medal for IKF Pkb.

Selom won his last fight in Lome, Togo where he was awarded a medal.


Famous Alfred Emmanuel Adjartey

Adjartey popularly known as ‘Kila’ in the ring has likewise shown character with his extraordinary talent, Weight 65kg, he has fight record of 14-0-0(12 KO).


Also boast of four international fights and as two gold medalist.


He is the former lightweight and light welter weight National holder and West African champion.


Currently, Armed Forces best boxer.


The International Kickboxing Federation-PKB has really come to the light with huge boast of sporting disciplines.


The team led by Ahmed Ibrahim deserves recognition for also laying down marketing plans to bring on board sponsorship packages in supporting the fighters during their travels.

They managed to snatch Van bell group of companies as one of the sponsors.


Again, secured a deal from Istanbul business center managed by David Tulasi Fofo.


All these projects, have being excellent with the help with the technical team made up of four thus Samuel Kweku Aidoo, Mamudu Musah and Mawuli Opari.
