Renowned Talent Manager, George Britton has voiced his desire for Ghanaian rap icon Sarkodie to secure the backing of a major record label, emphasizing the significant benefits this could bring to both the artist and Ghana’s international image.
In a recent interview with Prince Benjamin on Class 91.3 FM’s Class Morning Show, the CEO of GB Records highlighted the global acclaim of artists like Burna Boy and expressed his wish for similar recognition for Ghanaian talents.
"I wish Sarkodie had a major label backing him. Yes, Sarkodie is a big artiste, he’s gone out there and won BETs and all these things, but is his name a household name like Burna Boy’s?" Britton questioned.
With 15 years of experience in talent management, Britton underscored the importance of Ghanaian artists collaborating with international record labels to gain access to larger platforms and media outlets worldwide.
He urged artists to venture beyond their comfort zones and engage in discussions with record labels to explore potential opportunities.
Britton pointed out that such collaborations could enhance the international presence of Ghanaian artists, opening doors to greater revenue streams and boosting music tourism.
"I want our people to step out of their comfort zones and say, ‘Hey, listen, let’s have a conversation. What will you do for me if I sign on?’" he added.
As the GB Records boss, Britton is passionate about advancing the careers of Ghanaian musicians and believes that partnering with major labels could significantly elevate their global status.
His call to action is a reminder of the untapped potential within the Ghanaian music industry and the need for strategic moves to capitalize on international opportunities.
