The Ga Mantse, King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, on Monday visited selected Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) centres across Accra to observe the start of the 2026 nationwide examinations and encourage candidates.

He was accompanied by the Mayor of Accra, Michael Allotey, and the Greater Accra Regional Minister, Linda Ocloo, as part of efforts to ensure a smooth and incident-free exercise.

During the tour, the delegation interacted with candidates, invigilators and school authorities, while also overseeing the distribution of examination materials.

The Ga Mantse urged candidates to remain calm and focused, stressing the importance of integrity throughout the examination period.

Officials expressed satisfaction with the general conduct at the centres visited, noting that security arrangements and supervision were largely effective.

More than 620,000 candidates are sitting for this year’s BECE nationwide, which is expected to run until May 11.
