Former Prez. Akufo-Addo pays tribute to Late Daddy Lumba

Former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has paid glowing tribute to the late Ghanaian music legend, Charles Kwadwo Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba, describing him as one of the greatest artists the nation has ever produced.

On Friday, August 1, 2025, the former President, accompanied by a high-profile delegation, visited the residence of the late musician to offer his condolences and sign the book of condolence.

The delegation included former Chief of Staff Akosua Frema Osei-Opare, Minority Leader Hon. Alexander Afenyo-Markin, several New Patriotic Party (NPP) Members of Parliament, and officials from the previous administration.

“Daddy Lumba was one of the greatest artists and musicians our country Ghana has produced, and to whose genius and work I shall be forever grateful,” former President Akufo-Addo said after signing the book of condolence.

The late Charles Kwadwo Fosu, known for his timeless songs and immense contribution to Ghana's music industry, passed away recently.

His suddden demise sent shockwaves across the country and music fraternity.

In addition to the visit to the Lumba family, the former President also called on the family of former Minister for Roads and Highways, Hon. Kwasi Amoako-Atta, to commiserate with them following the passing of Mrs. Gloria Amoako-Atta, the minister’s wife.

Former Pres. Akufo-Addo extended heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved families, encouraging them to remain strong in these difficult times.
