"Filing your taxes will be so easy using CitizenApp" – GRA Boss

The Commissioner-General of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), Julie Essiam, has lauded the CitizenApp as a game-changer for the nation, particularly in making tax filing more efficient and user-friendly.

Speaking at the launch of the CitizenApp at the Kempinski Hotel in Accra on Monday, Julie Essiam emphasized that the new platform will drastically simplify the tax process for individuals and businesses alike.

"Filing your taxes will be so easy using CitizenApp," she said.

"The system will pull all the necessary data from various government agencies, meaning you no longer need to chase down forms or visit multiple offices. Everything will be accessible at your fingertips, with a single point of data access."

The CitizenApp, launched as part of Ghana's broader digital transformation agenda, promises to revolutionize the way government services are delivered by integrating all public services into one platform.

Madam Julie Essiam highlighted how the app will eliminate the frustrations traditionally associated with tax filing, reduce waiting times, and ensure seamless access to government services.

"Imagine a future where paying your taxes no longer feels like a burden but becomes a simple and quick process, all from your mobile phone," she remarked.

"This is the future we are building with the CitizenApp, where technology improves the lives of citizens and boosts the efficiency of government systems."

The Commissioner-General further explained how the app would enhance transparency in government transactions, allowing law enforcement and other relevant bodies to access data in real-time.

She noted that the initiative is part of a larger effort by the GRA to embrace digital transformation and future-proof its operations.

"At the GRA, we are committed to advancing technological progress," she said.

"By streamlining processes and making public services more accessible, we are not only enhancing the tax experience for Ghanaians but also contributing to the country's economic growth."

The CitizenApp, integrated with the Ghana Card, is set to make a significant impact across various sectors, from clearing goods at ports to registering vehicles, and even applying for permits.

Madam Julie Essiam concluded her address by affirming that the CitizenApp represents a new era in public service delivery, where convenience and efficiency take center stage.

With the launch of the CitizenApp, Ghana positions itself as a leader in digital governance in Africa, ensuring that government services are no longer a source of frustration but a tool for empowerment.
