Accra-based football giants, Accra Hearts of Oak are in hot waters following a directive from the Ghana Football Association (GFA), enforcing a ruling by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) which compels the club to settle an outstanding payment of over GHC 106,000 owed to former player, Francis Adjetey.

The GFA’s Disciplinary Committee, acting on a stern warning from FIFA, issued the final directive on Tuesday, June 24, 2025.

The club has been ordered to pay GHC 106,477.42, along with a five percent annual interest from September 15, 2023, until full payment is made.

In addition, Hearts of Oak must pay CHF 1,000 towards Adjetey’s legal expenses, as previously awarded by CAS, and a separate fine of GHC 20,000 for failing to comply with the initial ruling within the stipulated time.

The deadline for full settlement is set for July 7, 2025. Failure to meet this date will trigger an automatic transfer ban, both locally and internationally, until the debt is fully paid.

This enforcement comes in the wake of disciplinary proceedings initiated by FIFA against the GFA.

In a letter dated June 3, 2025, FIFA’s Legal and Compliance Division accused the GFA of failing to enforce the CAS decision—a violation of Article 21 of the FIFA Disciplinary Code.

FIFA threatened to withhold 20 percent of the GFA’s next FIFA Forward payment if the outstanding amounts are not cleared within a final 30-day window.

Additional sanctions, including extended fund suspensions and referral to the FIFA Disciplinary Committee, may follow if the issue remains unresolved.

The GFA has responded by moving swiftly to ensure Hearts of Oak honours its obligations.

It has warned the club that no further hearings will be held and that enforcement measures will apply automatically should the deadline be ignored.

This development is a stark reminder of the consequences of non-compliance with international football rulings and puts further pressure on Hearts of Oak to act swiftly to avoid crippling sanctions.

I think it's better not to quarrel with FIFA and to comply with the requirements they have outlined. After all, one could be denied access to football matches, where many players prefer to consider not only the current form of the teams but also their history of encounters with opponents. Understanding the playing style and strengths allows for more accurate prediction of the outcome. Mobile betting applications like https://bc-game.com.ng/app/ provide convenient access to information and real-time odds changes, making the process more flexible and allowing decisions to be made on the spot. This adds dynamism and improves predictions.
