NDC's Parliamentary Candidate for the Assin North Constituency, James Gyakye Quayson has taken a swipe at the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) over the criminal charges levelled against him.
According to him, the state is playing gimmicks in court.
In an interview monitored by Thinknewsonline.com, he said "Maybe, I may be blind or moght not understand the system or not in tune"
"So are you telling me that all of my supporters don't understand what is going on?"
"You don't follow somebody who is going down the drain."
"Even if they want to give me a bedroom in the court, Assin North will still vote for me"
"If they want to see me in court every hour, which means, I can’t leave, they should give me a chamber to sleep there"
The Parliamentary Candidate hinted that he was going stand tall and fight for his people.
Background
It will be recalled that Mr. Quayson was kicked out from parliament after the Supreme Court of Ghana.
The Supreme Court ruled that he was ineligible to contest in the 2020 parliamentary election because he failed to renounce his Canadian citizenship in time.
The State, on February 12, 2022, charged James Gyakye Quayson with five counts; deceit of a public officer, forgery of a passport, knowingly making a false statutory declaration, perjury, and false declaration.
