The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) has formalized its collaboration with OUR Rescue Ghana, a non-governmental organization committed to supporting law enforcement in combating child sexual exploitation and human trafficking.
The partnership was cemented through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at a brief ceremony held on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, at EOCO's headquarters.
The MoU is expected to enhance joint efforts in the fight against human trafficking, combining resources and expertise to tackle this pressing issue more effectively.
Speaking at the ceremony, EOCO's Executive Director, COP Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah, expressed her deep appreciation for the ongoing support provided by OUR Rescue Ghana.
She emphasized the importance of this partnership and her anticipation of stronger, more effective collaborations between the two organizations as they work to operationalize the MoU.
Rich Morley, the Regional Director for Africa and the Middle East at OUR Rescue Ghana, praised EOCO for its relentless efforts in combating crime, particularly human trafficking.
He urged investigators to adopt a comprehensive approach that goes beyond prosecution, encouraging them to identify and address other criminal activities linked to trafficking.
Morley reaffirmed his organization's commitment to working closely with EOCO and offered support in training officers to enhance their capabilities in the fight against human trafficking.
The MoU was signed on behalf of EOCO by COP Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah and SO Leo Anthony Siamah, Deputy Head of the Legal Unit.
Representing OUR Rescue Ghana were Rich Morley and Fred Akweter.
The ceremony was also attended by key personnel from both organizations, including EOCO’s Executive Secretary, Board Secretary, various unit heads, and selected officers.
OUR Rescue Ghana was further represented by Eva Dela Quist, Resource Manager, and Perpetual Adu Dufi-Gyamfi, Outreach Coordinator.
