DOME-KWABENYA CONSTITUENCY: 2024 Special Voting Exercise underway at Kwabenya Police Station-Atomic

The 2024 Special Voting Exercise is underway at the Kwabenya Police Station-Atomic polling centre in the Dome-Kwabenya Constituency of the Greater Accra Region.


A total of Six Hundred and Forty Two (642) persons are expected to participate in this early Special Voting Exercise.


As of 2pm on Monday, approximately Four Hundred (400) eligible voters had cast their ballots.


However, two individuals did not get the opportunity to vote because they failed apply for Special Voting register.

Speaking to journalists, Isabella Anna Adusei-Bediako, Presiding Officer for the polling centre, confirmed that the exercise commenced on time and was progressing smoothly.


She emphasized that all necessary materials and equipment were available, ensuring a peaceful and orderly voting process. She expressed optimism that the exercise would be transparent, free, and fair.


The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary Candidate for Dome-Kwabenya, Michael Aaron Oquaye Jnr, visited the polling centre to monitor the proceedings. He commended the Electoral Commission officials and voters for their discipline and adherence to the rules governing the process.

Mr. Oquaye Jnr further issued a stern warning against any attempts to disrupt the election, stating that such actions would be met with swift legal consequences.


Electoral Officials say they are expecting about 140 officers more to participate in the ongoing Special Voting Exercise at the Kwabenya Police Station-Atomic polling centre in the Dome-Kwabenya Constituency.


The Special Voting Exercise allows security personnel, electoral officers, and other essential service providers to cast their votes ahead of the general elections to enable them to perform their duties during the main polls.

Observers have noted a calm and organized atmosphere at the Kwabenya polling centre, with no reported incidents of violence or disturbances as the process continues.


As at 4:30pm, Five Hundred and Forty-six have casted their votes.


Officials say, counting of the votes will done on December 7.
