"Credible Investigation Needs To Be Conducted Into The Crowd Rioting/Controlling Incident" - Gov't

The Government of Ghana has charged the security agencies to conduct a credible investigation into the crowd rioting and crowd controlling incident which occurred on 29th of June at Ejura, a town and the capital of Ejura/Sekyedumase, a district in the Ashanti Region of Ghana

According to Government, a credible investigation will help bring clarity to the sequence of events and also deal with persons who acted inappropriately.

Addressing Journalist in Accra on Wednesday, the Minister for Information, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah said “Also, a credible investigation needs to be conducted into the crowd rioting and crowd controlling incident which occurred on 29th of June. This is necessary to bring clarity to the sequence of events and to ensure that if any persons acted inappropriately, those persons are punished”

The Minister for Information further described the suspected murder of Ibrahim Mohammed known by many as Kaaka as condemnable.

He, however, noted that the subsequent death of two others coupled with the injuries of at least three more persons during youth protest, after the burial of Late Kaaka was also unfortunate.

“The Suspected Murder Of Ibrahim Mohammed popularly know as Kaaka and the subsequent death of two others coupled with the injuries of at least three more persons during youth protest, after his burial is terribly unfortunate and condemnable. We commensurate with the victims, the families, the loved ones, and the people of Ejura”

Kojo Oppong Nkrumah charged the security agencies to be quick and clinical in getting to the bottom of the sad incident at Ejura and other unresolved crimes.

“Now while we understand that police investigations sometimes take a while, it does not instill confidence in the population if such acts go unresolved and unpunished quickly. So the police need to get to the bottom of this and justice must be done” the Minister stated.

He added “We have also read and seen videos this morning from youth groups and family members who are admonishing politicians and other social groups who want to be opportunistic about this very sad incident to back off and I think we can all agree with them”

The Minister for Information who doubles as Member of Parliament (MP) for Ofoase-Ayirebi Constituency appealed to the security agencies to deal purely with criminal matters and get justice done for late Kaaka.
