"Covid-19 Vaccines Effective Against Delta Variant" - GHS (VIDEO)
The Ghana Health Service (GHS) has allayed public fears over the recording of cases of the Covid-19 Delta variant in the country.
According to the health service, the Covid-19 vaccines (AstraZeneca and Sputnik V) are still effective against the variant which originated from India.
The strain is known to have caused a spike in Covid-19 cases recorded in India, and an increase in cases in the UK despite a large section of the population in those countries being vaccinated.
The Minister of Information, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah has said the AstraZeneca and Sputnik V vaccines are effective and can fight the Indian variant( Delta)
He rejected the claims that the vaccines procured by Ghana are not potent against the new Delta variant of the novel coronavirus.
He added that 6 cases of the new delta variant have been confirmed at the Kotoka International Airport and it is because of the surveillance at the airport, that is why they detected the virus
