CODA Commissions Library/ICT Centre And Classroom Block In Central Region (Pictures)


The Coastal Development Authority (CODA) has officially commissioned a Library / ICT Centre at Amosima in the Abura Asebu Kwamankese (AAK) Constituency and a 2 Unit Classroom Block with Ancillary facilities at Wawase Swedru in the Agona West Constituency, all in the Central Region of Ghana.


The projects were financed under the one million dollars per constituency initiative through the Infrastructure for Poverty Eradication Programme (IPEP) with CODA with the aim of facilitating socioeconomic development within the Coastal Development Zone.


During the official handing over of the Library/ICT Centre in the AAK Constituency, the Chief of Amosima, Nana Amoa VIII who is also a Justice of the Court of Appeal thanked the president His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for his timely intervention in bridging the socioeconomic development gap through the creation of the three development authorities.



According to him, the CEO of CODA, Lawyer Jerry Ahmed Shaib through the Authority has given hope to the chiefs and people of Amosima more especially the youth since education holds the key to development in the community and the country.


He emphasized the library will not only benefit the people of Amosima but surrounding towns and villages as well.


He used the opportunity to thank the Ghana Library Authority for their support in providing books and staff for the facility.


He also thanked the government for the water extension project that was constructed in the year 2020.



He used to opportunity to appeal to government to earnestly commence the construction of their town roads, a durbar ground and an astroturf park for the people of Amosima.


The District Chief Executive (DCE) of AAK, Felicia Aba Hagan in her speech appealed to the people of Amosima to ensure that the maintenance of the facility is not taken for granted since that is the major problem in the country.


She advised parents to ensure that their children take advantage of the facility and to allow them study and become better persons in future.


The Executive Director of the Ghana Library Authority, Hayford Siaw expressed his excitement for the initiative embarked by CODA through the construction of libraries in some parts of the Coastal Development Zone.



According to him current records show that the Central Region has a total of twenty-one (21) libraries which ranks the region as one with the highest libraries in the country.


The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Coastal Development Authority, Lawyer Jerry Ahmed Shaib explained that the implementation of these projects were through the creation of the three development authorities by the president, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo.


He explained that there is no constituency that has not benefited from any project under the IPEP initiative.



According to him the library project is not the only one being constructed by the Authority in the AAK Constituency but several others with some completed and others ongoing, they include a durbar ground, classroom blocks, drains and culverts, children’s ward, health post among others.


He encouraged parents to take advantage of the library and motivate their children to patronize it.


The Central Regional Minister, Justina Marigold Assan thanked the chief and people of Amosima for collaborating with government to bring development to the doorstep of the constituents.



She assured the chiefs and people of the continuous support by the President through the Coastal Development Authority in addressing their socioeconomic needs.


She also encouraged the chief to continue to lobby for other social amenities for his people in order to make Amosima a better place.


The Headteacher of Swedru Wawase Basic School, Mr. Michael Payne in his welcome address thanked President Nana Addo, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Agona West Constituency, Honourable Cynthia Morrison and CEO of CODA, Lawyer Jerry Ahmed Shaib for coming to their aid with the newly constructed classroom block.



He also appealed to the government to bring more projects to their community.


The District Education Director, Joseph Kingsley Akwaboah on behalf of the Regional Education Director expressed his gratitude for the timely intervention by the Member of Parliament and the CEO of CODA.


According to him education is something that needs proper attention and can testify that the current government has transformed the education sector in the country.


Abusuapanyin Adu on behalf of the Chief of Swedru Wawase, Nana Kofi Aku expressed their gratitude to government for bringing development to their community.



He also advised the teachers and pupils to ensure the facility is maintained properly for the benefit of the whole community.


The CEO of CODA explained that the project was funded under the one million dollars per constituency programme through IPEP.


According to him the Authority is constructing several projects within the constituency and encouraged the people of Wawase to utilize the facility well.


The Member of Parliament for Agona West Constituency, Honourable Cynthia Morrison iterated to the people of Wawase that education is the key to development so she will ensure that more educational projects are brought into the constituency.


According to her, there are several ongoing and completed projects within the constituency, some are school blocks, Astroturf parks, ultra-modern toilet facilities, steel bridges, health posts, culverts, drains among others.


She appealed to the people to continue to support the government in order to bring more development to their community.
