The Attorney-General and Minister for Justice, Dr. Dominic Ayine, has clarified that he has not issued any threats against Member of Parliament (MP) for Gomoa Central Constituency, Kwame Asare Obeng, popularly known as A-Plus, but has merely challenged him to substantiate his allegations.

Addressing the media in Accra, Dr. Ayine stated that although he had initially chosen to remain silent over A-Plus’ recent claims—describing him as corrupt and accusing him of theft—he felt compelled to respond after realizing his silence was being misinterpreted.

“I’ve been quiet and careful because I did not want my exchanges with A-Plus to overshadow the good work myself and my team are doing,” he said.

“But because I ignored it, some people began to draw conclusions. I remember someone saying in an interview that if I’m not corrupt, I should come out and say so.”

He dismissed A-Plus' Facebook post as false and baseless, stating, “Everything that is said there never happened and never applied to me. I was never a member of the Finance Committee. I did not take part in any such decisions.”

Dr. Ayine insisted that the so-called evidence A-Plus referenced in his allegations was not credible.

“What he talks about as evidence of corruption is nothing to write home about. But maybe he has something I do not know.”

He added that he was not seeking to influence investigations in any way, stating that if A-Plus voluntarily subjects himself to interrogation by the National Intelligence Directorate (NID), he would allow the process to unfold independently.

“I am not presuming anything. If he commits himself to interrogation by the NID, I will stay out of it,” Dr. Ayine assured.

The Attorney-General reiterated that his focus remains on upholding justice and not on engaging in personal feuds.
