"Bear With Us As We Put In The Necessary Investments In The Energy Sector" -Energy Minister (Videos)

The Energy Minister, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh is appealing to Ghanaians to bear with the Energy providers as they put in the necessary investments in the sector.
According to him, the outages that are happening in the country are not being overlooked.
Addressing Journalists during an inspection at the Pokuase Bulk Supply Point, he said “I hope the media can convey to Ghanaians the investments that are going on [in the energy sector]. The last time we visited the Ghana Grid Company, we were told some wires had not been changed since the 50s and 60s. These wires have currently been changed to improve the supply situation in Accra. We hope that you [Ghanaians] will bear with us as we put in the necessary investments [in the energy sector]. Outages that are happening are not being overlooked,”
He added that the Akufo-Addo government will ensure it upgrade the facilities belonging to Ghana Grid Company (GRIDCO).
Reacting to criticisms from the opposition, National Democratic Congress (NDC), the sector Minister said "Government has been undertaking some projects in recent times to ensure a stable supply of power"
On his part, the Technical Controller at the Millennium Development Authority, Engineer William Amuna hinted that the Pokuase Bulk supply point project will start its full operation by August 2021.
It will be recalled that the country has for some few weeks and months have been experiencing intermittent power outages.
This has left many wondering whether the country has returned to the days of dumsor.
Meanwhile GRIDCo, the institution in charge of the country's power transmitter have explained that the power outages are technical challenges and not ‘dumsor’.
