AYNMA PM, Ofori Gyebi Pays Courtesy Call On Chief Imam, Bridges Muslim-Christian Gap In Municipality


Presiding Member at the Ayawaso North Municipal Assembly (AYNMA), Augustine Ofori Gyebi has paid a courtesy call on the National Chief Imam, His Eminence Sheikh Osman Sharubutu as part of measures of bridging the Muslim-Christian gap in the Municipality.


According to him, the visit to the Chief Imam's office is part of measures of calling for peace among the followers of the two major religions in the municipality and ask them to be each other's keeper.



The visit comes days after a feud ensued over the Presiding Member's intentions of contesting for the position of the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) in the Municipality.


It is however emerging that since the community has been tagged as a Muslim zone, the Presiding Member was asked to rescind his decision.



The Presiding Member, Mr. Gyebi however told the Muslim leaders that although he is a Christian, he has lived, work and united lots of the Christian-Muslim youths adding that his gesture has won the hearts of many.


The Presiding Member at the Ayawaso North Municipal Assembly further added that nothing will stop him from contesting for the MCE-ship.



The Chief Imam, His Eminence Sheikh Osman Sharubutu prayed and blessed Mr. Gyebi and wish him well in his endeavors.


Background

The Presiding Member (PM) at the Ayawaso North Municipal Assembly (ANMA), Augustine Ofori Gyebi has cautioned the members of ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Ayawaso North Constituency to stop using the Muslim-Christian propaganda against his title race for the position of Municipal Chief Executive (MCE).


According to him, nothing will prevent him from running for the position.



In an exclusive interview with ThinkNews Online, he said "Do u know they are using Muslim-Christian against me. My father is a Moshie man and my mother is Akim. I was born in Nima and I nurtured this party from polling station till my current position as a Presiding Member. I'm the only one who can unite the Muslims and Christians to fight for common goal in the Constituency"


He further explained that per his good works for the party, he is confident that the trust and support imposed in him by the Polling Station Executives, Zonal Coordinators, Council of Elders, Patrons and Constituency Executives will help him claim the seat.

"After my education, I came back to Nima and since then I have been leading the party in most activities in the constituency. I have nurtured this party from polling station till my current position"

He also hinted that both the Muslims and Christian leaders like-wise Ga chiefs have promised to work with him for the betterment of the Municipal Assembly and Constituency.



Augustine Ofori-Gyebi rose the position of Polling Station Executive to Secretary and currently the Presiding Member at the Ayawaso North Municipal Assembly.
