Alfred Nii Kotey Ashie has been elected the National Democratic Congress' Parliamentary Candidate for the Odododiodioo constituency ahead of the 2024 General Elections.
Alfred garnered 1209 votes while his contender, Emmanuel Nii Okai Laryea polled 952 votes out of the total votes of 2161.
Sunday's election had previously been suspended indefinitely after a disqualified candidate, Michael Nii Yarboi Annan filed a court injunction.
The court further granted the injunction forcing the elections to be suspended until the matter is resolved.
“We wish to inform you that the party was served with a notice of interlocutory injunction by a parliamentary candidate aspirant of the Odododiodoo constituency who was disqualified from contesting the primaries,” a statement from the party read.
However, over 2100 NDC delegates from the Odododiodioo constituency in the Greater Accra Region participated in Sunday's election despite the interlocutory injunction application filed by Mr Yarboi Anan.
His victory now paves the way for him to begin his campaign in the constituency and contribute to the NDC's fort to secure victory in the December polls.
