Akufo-Addo takes subtly swipe at Mahama, praises Bawumia's respect for Ghanaians

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, over the weekend, took a subtle swipe at the Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, contrasting Mahama's perceived disregard for the intelligence of the Ghanaian people with Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia's deep respect for the citizenry.

President Akufo-Addo made these remarks while speaking at the NPP Manifesto launch held at GSTS, Takoradi in the Western Region over the weekend.

He said "This is a man who has respect for the people of Ghana. This is not a man who is going to tell the Ghanaian people that you have short memory," President Akufo-Addo stated, clearly referencing Mahama's controversial "short memory" comment that has lingered in the minds of many Ghanaians.

The President's remarks were seen as a sharp criticism of Mahama's leadership style, subtly suggesting that Bawumia's approach, characterized by respect and consideration for the people, stands in stark contrast to the former President's alleged tendency to undermine the intelligence of the electorate.

As the political atmosphere heats up ahead of the upcoming elections, Akufo-Addo's comments are likely to fuel further debate about the character and leadership qualities of those vying for the highest offices in the land.

The President's endorsement of Bawumia's respectful demeanor may be a strategic move to bolster the Vice President's image while casting doubt on Mahama's suitability to lead the nation once again.
