The Member of Parliament for Gomoa Central, Hon. Kwame Asare Obeng, popularly known as A-Plus, has issued a formal statement to address a recent misunderstanding involving the Attorney General, Hon. Dr. Dominic Ayine, and to set the record straight on a matter that has generated significant public attention.

In the statement, Hon. A-Plus disassociated himself from a controversial post on social media that accused the Attorney General of corruption and theft.

According to him, the post originated from a fake Twitter (X) account impersonating him, complete with his image and a misleading verification badge.

He stressed that he had no control over the fraudulent account, which he believes was created to spread misinformation and incite unnecessary tensions.

"I have never—at any point—accused the Hon. Attorney General, Dr. Ayine, of being corrupt or a thief. That claim is false and misleading," A-Plus stated emphatically, adding that his official views are published exclusively on his verified Facebook page.

The Gomoa Central MP further clarified that his own Facebook post, written in response to Dr. Ayine’s comments at a recent press conference, was indeed authored by him.

However, he admitted that his tone was inappropriate and extended a sincere apology to Dr. Ayine and the general public.

“As a Member of Parliament, a younger colleague, and a junior in the House, I sincerely apologize... I believe I could have made my point in a more respectful and constructive manner,” he said, revealing that he has since deleted the post.

Hon. A-Plus also addressed insinuations made during the Attorney General’s press briefing linking him to a supposed scandal at the National Service Secretariat (NSS).

He vehemently denied any involvement, asserting that he has no ties—financial or otherwise—to the NSS.

He explained that his only interaction with the issue came when an individual approached him in late 2024 seeking help to clear his name through media engagement.

“I have never received any payment from the NSS, nor do I have any business—directly or indirectly—with the Secretariat,” he declared, calling on Dr. Ayine to publish any contrary evidence he may have.

Highlighting his consistent stance on justice and due process, A-Plus pointed out that he had previously supported individuals from across the political divide when they faced prosecution, including Minority Leader Hon. Cassiel Ato Forson, whose integrity he publicly vouched for.

“The fight against corruption remains a critical priority for His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama and the NDC government as a whole,” A-Plus concluded. “It is imperative that we all engage in this effort with integrity, fairness, and mutual respect.”

The statement has been welcomed by some political observers as a mature step toward de-escalating tensions and promoting accountability in public discourse.
