In a heartbreaking incident early Sunday morning, October 13, 2024, 13 lives were tragically lost in a gory accident involving a VIP bus on the Kumasi-Obuasi highway.
The bus, traveling from Kumasi to Enchi in the Western North Region, veered off the road and plunged into a ditch near Kwapia, a town close to Obuasi.
Police sources confirmed that among the deceased were seven men, five women, and one child, all passengers aboard the bus.
Eyewitness reports indicate that all but one of the victims died instantly at the scene, with the driver, Osei Adu, being rushed to the hospital in critical condition.
Sadly, he succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival.

Eyewitnesses recounted that the bus, registered ER 2445-11, became overcrowded after picking up stranded passengers from a broken-down vehicle earlier in the journey.

As families mourn their loved ones, those who were injured are receiving medical care, and an investigation has been launched to determine the exact cause of the accident.
The bodies of the victims have been sent to the morgue as authorities work to provide support to the bereaved families during this difficult time.
