The Minister for Information, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah has led a blood donation exercise at the premises of the Information Ministry to help raise blood for the National Blood Service to stock the blood bank.
The donation exercise follows a promise made by the Information Minister together with the Ministry's Press Pool to support the blood service by volunteering blood with the general public.
The donation exercise started on Wednesday morning whereby staff of the blood service took volunteers through orientation and need to take part in the exercise with the Information Minister donating his blood as well to grace the occasion.
Speaking at the opening of the exercise, the Information Minister, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah stressed that, he is enthused with the entire program and the public's interest to support the blood service by donating their blood to save lives.

He used the opportunity to commend the Press Pool of the ministry and also the sponsors for supporting the ministry as he says they look forward to supporting the blood service some other time.
On her part, the CEO for the National Blood Service, Dr. Justina Ansah also expressed appreciation to the Information Minister for the bold step to support the service.
She called on other Ministries to also emulate the work done by the Information Minister.
Some donors who spoke with Thinknewsonline.com commended the ministry for taking such initiatives to help support the blood service.
They added that they partook in the exercise because they saw the need to help save lives.
